A BLACK GIRL’S LOVE STORY
PRESENTED BY THE BLACK GIRLS’ LITERACIES PROJECT
LAB DESCRIPTION:
Are you learning to love yourself? What does loving yourself actually look like? This Love & Learning Lab is designed to support adolescent Black girls in defining and practicing self-love through literacy. As a group, we will deepen our understanding of what it looks like to love ourselves and others, especially in the face of oppression and all the things that come with being a teenager in today’s society.
Drawing on the historical literacy practices of other Black women and girls combined with an Afrofuturistic lens, we will use our literacies to create multimodal artifacts as we seek to understand: how do Black girls articulate and practice self-love? Content will be informed by Black Feminism and Afrofuturism.
Deadline to Enroll: Thursday, March 31, 2022
